My Cold Season Shower Essential

There’s always a morning when I wake up and know.

A little pressure behind my eyes. A heavier inhale. That subtle scratch in my throat that says: take it slower today.

During cold and flu season, I don’t reach for ten different things. I reach for steam.

7:40 a.m.

Before coffee. Before my phone. I turn the shower on hot and place the Deep Breath Shower Steamer from the Spa For One Rituals Collection just outside the direct stream of water.

It starts to fizz almost immediately.

Deep Breath is blended with pure eucalyptus essential oil, tea tree essential oil, and menthol — no synthetic fragrance, no artificial fillers. Just plant-derived ingredients chosen specifically to support respiratory comfort during moments of congestion.

Eucalyptus is often called the breathing oil in aromatherapy. Traditionally used to help promote clear airways and relieve feelings of congestion, its sharp, green aroma feels instantly clarifying. Tea tree has a long history of use in traditional wellness practices for its purifying properties. Menthol adds that cooling sensation that helps you feel like you can finally take a full inhale again.

The steam builds.

The essential oils lift into the air. I step in slowly and take one deep breath.

Using a eucalyptus and menthol shower steamer during cold season turns something you’re already doing, showering, into aromatherapy for congestion relief. The steam helps disperse the essential oils so you can inhale them deeply, supporting clearer breathing when you’re feeling stuffed up or run down.

My head feels lighter. My breath feels fuller. My nervous system feels calmer.

The Rituals Collection was created around this idea: you don’t need more time, you need more intention. Each blend supports a different emotional and physical state. Deep Breath is the one I reach for when I need to feel open, clear, and grounded, especially during cold and flu season.

Not every morning looks like this. But when I feel something coming on, this ritual becomes my first line of defense.

Five minutes.
A deeper inhale.
A softer start to the day.
